 Growing isn’t always comfortable. We know that from life. Starting a new school year, beginning a new job, navigating a change in our family, or simply realizing that something in our lives needs to change can stretch us beyond what feels familiar. Growth can be exciting, but it can also come with a few growing pains. The same is true of faith. This August, we’re beginning a new worship series called Growing Pains, following Jesus and his disciples through several stories in Matthew’s Gospel. And if you expect the disciples to have everything figured out, you may be surprised. They wrestle with fear. They misunderstand Jesus. They have moments of incredible faith followed by moments when they completely miss the point. In other words, they’re growing. We’ll explore what their experiences can teach us about our own journey with God. We’ll talk about growing through fear, allowing Jesus to challenge what we think we know, making faith our own, and discovering what it really means to follow Jesus. We’ll begin Growing Pains with our Blessing of the Backpacks, as we pray for students, teachers, school staff, and families beginning a new school year. Wherever you are in life or faith, there’s still room to grow, and you don’t have to have it all figured out before you begin. Categories

 A new school year is almost here, and we want to begin it with prayer! Next Sunday, we invite all students to wear their backpacks to worship for our Blessing of the Backpacks. Together, we’ll pray for our students as they head into a new year of learning, growing, making friends, and discovering new possibilities. Whether this is the first day of kindergarten, another year of high school, or any other school, we want every student to know that their church family is cheering them on and praying for them. We're also going to pray for our teachers and staff. Bring your backpack and join us as we ask God to bless our students, their teachers, school staff, and everyone who helps them learn and grow. Every students gets a free gift to remember that Jesus is always with them. Come ready for a great school year—and don’t forget your backpack! Categories |
